Neste – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Jacob Granqvist!

Neste supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
We are ramping up our marine activities in Neste on all levels and we see this as a brilliant opportunity to show the shipping industry what they can expect from us now and in the future.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
Even though DSM has grown significantly during the years it has kept the family atmosphere. On Donsö we are all an united happy proud shipping family.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
The shipping event to visit in 2017.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
The fantastic team effort of the organizers making it a successful event.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
Very high.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
I used to work on deep sea vessels and when my wife was expecting our first daughter I rounded the cape of Good Hope. It was a perfect sailing by all means and I brought home some water from that rounding.  In this water of Good Hope both our daughters were later baptized. What could be a better start in life than to get some salty water of Good Hope on your forehead.

Swedish Sea Rescue Society save lives at sea with no government funding

Swedish Sea Rescue Society is responsible for 70 percent of all sea rescues in Sweden and receives no government funding. The Society is financed by membership fees, donations and voluntary work. Despite this, or possibly as a result of this, the Society has doubled the number of sea rescue stations in recent years, tripled the number of rescue volunteers available and built 70 modern rescue vessels. This expansion has enabled Swedish Sea Rescue Society to meet its goal of departing within 15 minutes or less from the time an alarm is received. Crews live close to stations and conduct training several times a month.

Thanks to 2.000 volunteer crew members, rescue services are always available 24 hours a day anywhere along the Swedish coast and on the major lakes. The volunteers work as carpenters, doctors, fishermen, salesmen, plumbers, teachers and many other occupations. The sea rescue volunteers are willing to go out in any weather, at any time even during normal work hours or in the middle of the night.

The large degree of voluntary work enables the Swedish Sea Rescue Society to manage with a small administration, as much of the costs for normal activities are covered by membership fees. The Swedish Sea Rescue Society has more than 100 000 members.

Seminars intended for HR/Crewing personnel

On previous events we have mainly focused on the technical and commercial cluster and we are now glad to introduce a new seminar topic intended for HR/Crewing personnel.

September 6, 10:00-11:00 – Strengthening the collaborative culture Finn Skoglund, Director Blå Mediamentor.

“Culture = The way we do things.” Not taking control of the company culture exposes us to a great risk. A culture is not defined by management decisions, but by management actions. In this seminar Blå Mediamentor (www.blaa.com) will emphasize the importance of a uniform company culture and share experiences from several projects with shipping companies.

Seminars intended for HR/Crewing personnel

On previous events we have mainly focused on the technical and commercial cluster and we are now glad to introduce a new seminar topic intended for HR/Crewing personnel.

September 5, 11:30 – 12:30 – Digital transformation and HR’s changing role Annika Elfström, Head of Digital Transformation Lab

We all need to be creative problem and opportunity identifier. Exponential technology and a blurring of lines between the digital and physical world are changing the world around us. Digital transformation are affecting all aspects of our companies and we need to develop new skills, an open and explorative mindset and new ways of working to be successful in an more dynamic world. HR is at the beginning of the digital transformation and will be an important enabler for the business transformation with focus on attracting the right talents, creating a culture of openness and constant learning. We need to look beyond our industries, work in cross-functional teams with high speed and a focus on customer experience. Innovation is no longer a task for the R&D department it is up to us all and the future is ours to create!

Wärtsilä – Gold Sponsor

Hello there Göran Österdahl!

Wärtsilä supports DSM17 as Gold Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Donsö Shipping Meet is an interesting event in a very special location. The event attracts the market, and more and more people finds its way to Donsö Shipping Meet. Wärtsilä finds this kind of events interesting, differently and fruitful.

Wärtsilä has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
Historically every event has been better than expected. The event is growing, the people the location and the weather has just been perfect. Donsö Shipping Meet also gives the possibility to meet the market, not only operational crew but a wider audience, or every year the audience both in number and from business angles has increased.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
In short more of a family feeling. People independent suppliers, partners, owners, etc. gets closer together compared to other events

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
A small place with big audience from the total cluster gathered on a nice island.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
Must be the happiness of all participants.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
That we can get closer to our partners, and find new partners to work with. But not to forget a nice sunshine on the island.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
I was once in China to sell maritime equipment to a shipyard. There was no shipyard existing but only plans and drawings of a shipyard to become. They had already collected an order from a Swedish owner. The negotiations took place in a dry fish factory and there was only women walking around and eagerly watching a white man standing in a suit out on the yard. When we met the owner of the fish factory I could not avoid asking why he decided to invest in a shipyard. His reply still stays in my head. “Well that is easy. Look around. You see we have too many women here. We needed to get a more equal share of gender in the company and we found ship building is a very heavy male dominated segment. Starting shipbuilding would equalize the share of gender in the Corporation”- All kind of reasons out there to start ship building, hahaa…

Hello there Gunnar Helmen!

Skangas supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
The Donsö shipping environment has proven to be front runners in the development towards greener shipping. Skangas supports this development and see at the moment no better place to be when discussing the next step and the way forward.

It is a “cozy” atmosphere in a beautiful and special island. The commitment from the local community is really special here.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Tight and good organized event with a broad part of the shipping community gathered in a relaxed atmosphere.

What is your best memory from DSM15?
The afternoon dinner with interesting discussions from the podium.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
We hope that there will be more clear statements from the industry to follow up the Donsö ship owners dedication and follow  the “green route” into the future.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
I hope that the most memorable moment will come on the  DSM17, when we introduce the Skangas bunkering vessel “Coralius”  in one of the most dedicated LNG shipping clusters, right here on Donsö.

Bureau Veritas – Gold Sponsor

Hello there Bengt Sangberg!

Bureau Veritas supports DSM17 as Gold Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Contributing to DSM17 was a welcome and great opportunity as DSM provides a great forum for the Maritime Industry from across the globe to share contemporary research and developments in the Maritime fields. Furthermore, the Swedish Maritime Cluster plays an important role in the shipping industry and co-operation and discussions with the Swedish shipping cluster is of great importance to Bureau Veritas. For our valued cooperation with ship-owners in particular on Donsö and in the Gothenburg area only emphasizes the importance of supporting the DSM.

Bureau Veritas has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
It has been a privilege and an honor to work with DSM for more than 8 years. DMS continue to provide a successful forum for the Marine Industry to share and exchange expertise and knowledge. DSM is a perfect melting pot of innovation, collaboration, future-focused companies and talented individuals. How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Meet the World Maritime Industry at DSM2017!

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
The excellent feedback I received on my stylish red Bureau Veritas suit!

What are your expectations for DSM17?
Bureau Veritas expects that DSM17 once again will offer diverse and powerful speakers and provide an event line-up with a packed program of business and social gatherings. Bureau Veritas also hope that DSM17 once again will attract some of the world’s leading maritime companies showcasing new products and services to the industry, companies Bureau Veritas would like to meet and offer our services.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
One of the fondest maritime memories of my childhood refers to the time when I was just 5 years old. I was on summer holiday in Sweden and just learned that building any ship begins with design. I designed and built my first vessel that summer in three barks – definitely a Triple E design – as my bark vessel was efficient; it provided economy of scale and was environmentally friendly. The demand for environmentally-friendly or “green” vessels will increase as shipping companies focus on ways to reduce vessel emissions and it will always be a fond memory of mine to assist with these efforts in any way possible.

Mahinde Abeynaike BominLinde

Nauticor – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Mahinde Abeynaike!

Nauticor supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Nauticor (previously trading under the name Bomin Linde LNG) as part of The Linde Group is one of the leading LNG suppliers and develops dedicated supply solutions for maritime customers. The Linde Group has been supplying LNG to marine and industrial customers for many years. Our solutions include the world’s first LNG bunker vessel in Stockholm, our terminal in Nynashman, Sweden and the world’s largest LNG bunker vessel that will be ready to provide ship-to-ship bunkering in the Baltic Sea from late 2018. Therefore, we are working closely with shipping companies  that have decided or that are considering to use LNG as a fuel. Given our above mentioned solutions for the Baltic Sea we have a particular interest to foster the use of LNG in this marine market.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
For us DSM matches our expectations to a shipping event perfectly: high caliber participants gathering at a location in the middle of one of our high priority markets. Hard to match by another event.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Promising agenda with the right balance of networking and content at a great location.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
We hope that we can contribute a little bit to the rise of LNG as the future fuel for the shipping industry. In particular in the Baltic Sea with its strict emission regulations and the strong political will to foster environmentally friendly fuels, we see a great potential for LNG.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
My best maritime memory is about certain people from the maritime industry. Contrary to many prejudices, they showed very open to innovation and recognized need for change early. I was deeply impressed about these maritime entrepreneurs who invested millions in the first LNG fuelled vessels, despite short term challenges they still had to face a few years ago. Now they are setting the pace. Real visionaries you do not meet every day.

DSM is Swedens major shipping event and we see this as a very good opportunity to network with colleagues, suppliers and policymakers.

Sjöfartstidningen – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Pär-Henrik Sjöström!

Sjöfartstidningen supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
We think that DSM is an extremely important event for the whole Swedish shipping cluster and we are proud to be able to in our way support the great team making it all come through.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
Both the concept and the location of DSM is quite unique. Situated on Donsö, one of the most important shipping communities in Sweden and the home of a substantial part of the Swedish controlled product tanker fleet, the location is ideal for a shipping event. Almost everyone in shipping is going to be there. It is an excellent opportunity to meet ship owners, suppliers and other stakeholders in the shipping community.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
It is a large event but still has all the advantages of a small scale event.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
To meet old friends and make new contacts, and of course to increase the interest in our shipping magazine and online products.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
There are so many good memories, but many of my best memories are related to occasions when I have left the office for ”field trips” on different types of vessels, meeting all the interesting people working on board an learning incredible much about how shipping works in practice.

We believe in sustainable shipping which is important for our region and a prosperous archipelago. DSM is a good way to illustrate this.

Styrsöbolaget has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
Since we are a local operator it is important for us to build good relations with shipping neighbours.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
DSM helps us to reach a large amount of clients and customers at a local event.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
A lot of interesting meetings in one small spot.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
The genuine atmosphere.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
Even bigger and better than last time.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
When we reached Styrsö in April 2010 with our fast ferry Valö after delivery from the shipyard in Hyen, Norway.

Consilium – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Jonas Piskorowski!

Consilium supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Consilium are proud to be one of many Swedish companies producing products for the global maritime industry. By having the opportunity to build our relation even further also on home market sends a significant signal how we support our home market despite that over 90% of our export is outside Sweden.

Consilium has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
It’s an intimate meeting opportunity and a fantastic event made possible by highly engaged people. DSM is improving each year though found limitless since each event amazes the previous. Worth mention the impact a concentration of maritime industry could do for the home market and internationally also reflects my mind.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
The way we secure a fruitful speed-meeting between supplier and client I find most important. Having the pleasure meeting your client and discuss and listen to feedback helps us understand and improve ourselves as a producer and provider of system and services. The speed-meeting aspect is close to 100% satisfaction. In other events it’s really hard to predict the outcome and justify the time spend, for both parties so to say.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
A great place to build relations and trust throughout a well-organized two-day event.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
We had 13 out of 14 possible speed meetings that year which was a fantastic figure.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
I’m content if the standard is in line with 2015 but I know for sure that we will be amazed again how well organized the event will be. Taking in that the event will be all time high 2017 our expectations are carefully optimistic.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
Needs to be a decent story I guess, I can only recall less fortunate once. I started in the business 1997 as an engineer. When I many years later joined sales we had been part of a new building project with BRP. As a gratitude to all makers BRP invited all suppliers for vessel naming over a weekend in Molde. The impact BRP made was incredible for all of us participating. And I can rest assure that we all left Molde as a very tight team.

Port of Gothenburg – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Jill Söderwall!

Port of Gothenburg supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
We believe it is a fantastic opportunity for us as a port to meet with shipowners, suppliers and other stakeholders in the maritime business.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
It is obvious that Swedish maritime industry is viable and bold in developing the maritime business. This shows in DSM which is modern and sustainable event/exhibition.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
An interesting, international event with a local/personal flare!

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
Beside the huge dinner, we remember the very interesting seminar in Donsö church.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
Everyone will be there, so the chance of new knowledge and business opportunities are great.

Svenska Skeppshypotek – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Lars Johanson!

Svenska Skeppshypotek supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
The opportunity to meet so many representatives of the industry, the achievers. That is to say shipowners, charterers, suppliers, seafarers etc, all those with different perspectives and experiences of current events and trends in shipping.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
The practical orientation, closeness to activities and decisions.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
A focal point for shipping.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
That we as financiers of Swedish shipping met with both existing and new contacts in a convenient and relaxed atmosphere.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
To meet new and unexpected contacts.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
May I look inward at our own business, it’s our 85th anniversary as well as the DSM managed to gather the entire industry with new appointments as a result. And we then follow up with an annual industry meeting, complementing and strengthening the industry biennial meet at Donsö.

DNV GL – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Jan-Olof Grønhult!

DNV GL supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
For those of us who are part of the local maritime cluster with high attendance and commitment in both new projects and day-to-day operations, it is natural to support this type of initiative. We have a highly competitive situation in the  maritime segment, and we believe that it is important to be able to gather around positive and future-oriented events such as this, much can be achieved by joining forces.

DNV GL has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
Donsö is a unique maritime center with maritime excellence and high level of entrepreneurship. DSM reflects well the mixture of knowledge and enterprise in a uniquely intimate way that creates confidence and optimism, which is a key ingredient to realize ideas and simply being able to do business.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
There is a clear trend to large fairs become even larger and thus less transparent and personal. DSM has the underlying desire of entrepreneurship, this should just be fine, that characterizes Donsö and that allows the creation of a more personal atmosphere to discuss opportunities. This opposed to a more industrial marketing site such as the major arrangements have been developed to.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Personal event with a high level of maritime knowledge in a unique environment.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
All the meetings and interaction with the participating companies and people.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
We hope that we will be able to deepen the discussions with famous partners in industry and building links with new acquaintances in a unique atmosphere. Also hoping for a high turnout of shipowners and operators who ultimately will manage its new projects in the coming decades. Always uplifting and refreshing to discuss on how they see the future and the ability to be a party that contributes to the visions and thoughts already from the start.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
Is not one memory it is more that I have been fortunate to be part of a journey within the maritime industry stretching over all kind of tonnage and interaction with the same.

Marinfloc – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Martin Gombrii!

Marinfloc supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Being a silver sponsor provides great exposure and as we are also from an island (Orust) we want to contribute a bit extra.

Marinfloc has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
DSM gathers the entire Swedish shipping cluster so it is a really good opportunity to meet existing and new customers. It is a very personal and friendly event and we really enjoy participating.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
There is no other shipping event in Sweden that gathers so many people from the industry in one place.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Well organized, intense and fun!

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
Driving customers to and from the ferry in our 1979 mini cooper that we brought along.

What are your expectations for DSM17?
High. We expect it to attract many visitors from Norway and Denmark which are very important markets for us.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
We shipped a container full of water treatment equipment to Houston a few years back to demonstrate our technology to the biggest oil drilling operator there. They had landed a tank container of very dirty and complex drill slop for us to treat at a live demonstration for 50 managers. We got no time for preparations and it didn’t work at first so I asked Benny Carson to make the initial presentation part a little longer, and he did. That gave me the extra minutes to tune the settings and everything started working at 0 PPM oil content in the effluent, just one minute before everyone came out to see the stuff in full action. That was a great moment!

DFS – Silver Sponsor

Hello there Petra Hansson!

DFS supports DSM17 as Silver Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
Ever since the first DSM we have been a strong supporter to the expo. This time we decided to be a Silver Sponsor so we can support this great event even further. We are very proud to be a Silver Sponsor where we can show how passionate we are to be involved as sponsor.

DFS has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
For us it is a given to be a part of DSM. We have strong connections to Donsö and are grateful for our business relations on the island. We come back because we like the setting where you can connect and meet your fellow partners and do business.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
DSM feels more personal and you can easily connect with the visitors and exhibitors. The banquet is also a factor that differs with its spot-on arrangement where interesting speakers take the stage.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
DSM is an eventful expo where you connect and meet capable people within shipping.

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
I think that was the moment we landed a big contract after just 20 min speed meeting with a big owner. That shows how powerful the speed meetings can be.

What are your expectations for DSM17
High! We know that the event this year will deliver in all possible ways thanks to the enthusiastic people involved in DSM.

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?

It is impossible to relate to only one……..and hopefully I have many more to come!

Ulrik Frenader_Alfa Laval

Alfa Laval Main Sponsor

Ulrik Frenander, Marine Divisional Manager Alfa Laval Nordic.

Alfa Laval has been participating since DSM started in 2009. What makes you come back year after year?
DSM has developed into the largest shipping event in the Swedish maritime market. It is a great opportunity to meet ship owners, suppliers and other parties working in the maritime sector.

What differs DSM from other Shipping events?
At DSM you are very close to each other. There are many participants at DSM these days, however the feeling is very familiar. The concept of speed meetings is also great. It gives ship owners and suppliers the opportunity to meet and discuss products and applications in a timely and effective way.

How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Familiar, close and effective – don’t miss out when the Swedish maritime sector comes together!

What is your best memory from DSM2015?
I’ve had many good experiences during DSM since 2009 so it is hard to pick out one specific memory. However, I always love coming out to the beautiful archipelago on the west coast of Sweden. It’s really an inspiring start of the day to take the ferry out to Donsö!

DSM – Goal and mission

One of the goals with Donsö Shipping Meet is to be an event that puts Swedish shipping on the map. We hope that DSM will continue to be the meeting point for the entire cluster. Unlike the bigger exhibitions in Europe, DSM wants to offer all participants a more intimate event where good meetings and business are in focus. Our mission is that all participants get the best opportunity to network with both their customers, clients and their colleagues and that exhibitors and shipping companies are doing business together.

Who partakes?

  • Companies related to the maritime industry
  • Shipowner associations from the Nordic countries
  • Government representatives and government entities

See you at Donsö on September 5-6, 2017
