Information about DSM2025 Open Ship Program will be available during 2025.
Sailing ships from the 18th century as well as state of the art product tankers for the future. The attendees of DSM2023 could visit a range of different vessels in the port of Donsö.
An important part of DSM is the vessels visiting Donsö harbour, offering the attendees of the fair a chance to get a closer look at what shipping really is about. During DSM2023 a wide range of ships was open for visits during the three days, from sailing ships to fishing vessels and modern product tankers from some of the shipping companies on the island.
THE MAIN ATTRACTION among the vessels was the Götheborg of Sweden, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship and a 18th century replica of the original Götheborg that sank in 1745. After a year long expedition around Europe, visiting nineteen ports and welcoming 90,000 visitors onboard, Götheborg arrived to her home port Göteborg in the beginning of June to participate in the city’s 400-year jubilee. The ship made the short sailing to Donsö on the 27th of August.
ANOTHER SAILING SHIP visiting Donsö during DSM2023 was the Kvartsita, built 1945 at Holms yard in Råå outside Helsingborg to ship raw materials for the ceramic manufacturer Höganäsbolaget. Originally she was built as a galeas-rigged sailing ship with motor, but was rebuilt in Norway 1953 with the masts replaced by a crane and a wheelhouse in the stern. In 1986, the Swedish association För Fulla Segel bought her and renovated her thoroughly to a schooner and a modern sail training ship with Skaftö in Bohuslän as home port.
