RMK Marine supports DSM2025 as Gold Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?
DSM is a comprehensive trade fair and networking platform that emphasizes direct, meaningful interactions among maritime professionals. By sponsoring the event, RMK Marine demonstrates its commitment to fostering relationships with industry peers, suppliers, and potential clients. DSM brings together exactly the kind of stakeholders we want to engage with, forward-looking shipowners, operators and innovators who are serious about sustainability and the long-term transformation of maritime sector. The values behind DSM – collaboration, technical integrity, and strong commitment spirit – align closely with our own culture at RMK Marine.
What makes DSM different from other exhibitions in your opinion?
Unlike larger international exhibitions, DSM offers a more intimate setting conducive to genuine business connections and discussions.
What are your expectations for DSM2025
As one of the leading Turkish shipyards, RMK Marine aims to enhance its international visibility and establish connections with key stakeholders in the maritime sector. We believe that this involvement will facilitate knowledge exchange and position RMK Marine as an active participant in shaping the future of the maritime industry. We see this event as an opportunity to position RMK Marine not just as a shipbuilder but as a partner in innovation.
What do you find are the opportunities and challenges in the Shipping Industry today?
The maritime industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by global economic pressures, heightened regulatory demands, digitalization, and an urgent need for environmental sustainability. At RMK Marine, we view this period not only as challenging but also as a pivotal opportunity for innovation and leadership.
Sustainability is no longer optional—it is a core imperative. International regulations such as the IMO’s decarbonization targets and the EU’s inclusion of shipping in the Emissions Trading System (ETS) are reshaping the industry and make shipowners seek for greener solutions, including alternative fuels like LNG, methanol, and hydrogen, as well as hybrid and electric propulsion systems.
Digitalization is another major force redefining shipbuilding and maritime operations. Smart ships, real-time monitoring systems, and digital twins are enabling more efficient and safer vessel management. RMK Marine has integrated advanced design software, production technologies, and project management systems to enhance both precision and efficiency in our shipbuilding process.
The global supply chain continues to face volatility due to geopolitical tensions, inflation, and post-pandemic disruptions. For shipbuilders, this affects material sourcing, pricing, and delivery schedules. RMK Marine mitigates this through strategic supplier relationships, localized sourcing wherever possible, and adaptive project planning.
The maritime sector faces a skills gap as it transitions to greener and smarter technologies. Investing in talent, from engineering to digital specialists, is critical. At RMK Marine, we emphasize workforce development, continuous training, and collaboration with universities and vocational institutions.
How would you describe DSM in one sentence?
Donsö Shipping Meet is a uniquely focused maritime event that fosters meaningful connections, innovation, and collaboration within the global shipping industry—an ideal platform for RMK Marine to engage with partners committed to sustainable and future-ready maritime solutions.
And finally, do you prefer a sailboat or a motorboat for recreation, and why so?
I prefer motorboats due to my appreciation for comfort.
