The initiative Donsö Shipping Meet has been awarded the title Maritime Achievement of the Year 2025. An honorable mention goes to Öckerö Municipality and Wärtsilä for the initiative "Women in Maritime."
Maritime Achievement of the Year goes to DSM

During the Swedish Shipowners’ Association’s annual meeting seminar in Stockholm on Thursday, the recipients of the 2025 Maritime Achievement of the Year award were announced.
This year, the jury chose to honor the initiative Donsö Shipping Meet (DSM), which for the past 15 years has brought together stakeholders from across the maritime industry to connect the Swedish and international shipping sectors and promote increased collaboration.
The motivation was read aloud by Member of Parliament Johanna Rantsi, the Moderate Party’s spokesperson on maritime policy. She emphasized that DSM places special focus on key issues for the shipping industry, such as the sector’s green transition, skills supply, safety efforts, as well as sustainability and inclusion. In recent years, DSM has also addressed the challenges posed by the evolving security landscape for the maritime sector.”I feel both proud and moved by this award. DSM is a major project that we are now organizing for the ninth time. Many parties are involved, and it requires an incredible amount of work. But every second of effort is worth it when we see the entire Swedish maritime cluster come together—along with our global partners—on Donsö to contribute with knowledge and engagement,” says Jonas Backman, CEO of Sirius Shipping.”
